Eat Wholegrains to Reduce Risk of Premature Death
According to a recent meta-analysis, by incorporating wholegrains into your everyday diet it may reduce the risk of premature death by lowering the prospect of developing common diseases such as cardiovascular disease and cancer.
The research uncovered that during the study period those who consumed the most wholegrains had lower risks of dying, than those who consumed little to no whole-grains. Results indicated that those who regularly ate wholegrains had a 22% lower risk of total mortality, a 23% lower risk of cardiovascular disease, and a 20% lower risk of cancer mortality.
Researchers suggest that these impressive results are likely due to the high fibre content of wholegrains, which may have positive affects on cholesterol, glucose response and satiety after eating.
